Network connection - Apple

Supported operating systems

  • OS X 10.3 (Panther)
  • OS X 10.4.2 (Tiger)

Configuration

  1. Click the wireless icon in the top bar
  2. Select "Open Internet Connect..."
  3. Click "802.1X" in the top bar. If you don't see the 802.1X button, select "File: New 802.1X Connection"
  4. Select "Configuration:" dropdown list
  5. Select "Edit Configurations..."
  6. Enter a name for the new configuration (i.e., CSU or CougarWave)
  7. Select "Network Port:" dropdown list, and choose "AirPort"
  8. * (Optional) Enter your Novell username in the "User Name:" field
  9. Leave the "Password:" field empty
  10. Select the "Wireless Network:" dropdown list, and choose "CougarWave"
  11. In the "Authentication:" list, select "TTLS" (click the name so it is highlighted, not the checkbox) and click the "Configure..." button
  12. Select the "TTLS Inner Authentication:" dropdown list, and choose "PAP"
  13. You may leave the "Outer Identity:" field blank, or enter the word "anonymous"
  14. Click the "OK" button
  15. In the "Authentication:" list, uncheck all other items. Only "TTLS" should be checked
  16. Click the "OK" button
  17. Close the "Internet Connect" dialog box (click the red circle in the upper left hand corner of the box)

Connecting:

  1. Click the wireless icon in the top bar
  2. Select "CougarWave"
  3. At the "Verify Certificate" dialog box, click the "Continue" button
  4. * Enter your Novell username and/or password in the "802.1X Authentication" dialog box
  5. Click the "OK" button
  6. The wireless icon in the top bar should now be bold/darkened (was gray). This indicates a successful connection to CougarWave

Notes:

* If you choose not to enter your Novell username in step 8 in the "Configuration" section, you will be prompted to enter it upon selecting the CougarWave wireless network.
