CINS is pleased to offer you anytime, anywhere access to your campus data files via Novell NetStorage.
With NetStorage, you can access the files on your CSU network drives (H: or P:) safely and conveniently from any location with an Internet connection. All you have to do is point your web browser to the NetStorage site and login using your Novell username and password.
No more e-mailing documents to your home computer: once logged in to NetStorage, you can upload, download, copy, move, rename, and delete files, all within a secure browser window. NetStorage works with the current versions of any of the popular web browsers such as Internet Explorer, Netscape, Firefox, or Safari.
Tips and tricks
- Please keep in mind that each of us has a duty to protect sensitive CSU data such as student records, social security, credit card numbers, and the like. If you will be accessing sensitive data, please read and follow the CSU remote access policy (pdf).
- To edit files, you must download the file to your home computer, edit it, and then upload it to NetStorage. You cannot actually open and edit a document in NetStorage.
- You can sort the order of files and folders by selecting “View” from the options just above the file listing.
- To disconnect from NetStorage securely, you must logout of NetStorage by clicking on the logout icon AND closing the browser window. If you simply close the browser window, the next person to sit at that computer and open NetStorage will already be logged in as you.
- If you go to NetStorage from a campus computer, it will not ask you for a username and password because you are already logged in to Novell.
